The other day, Marc, one of my r/c warbird buddies stopped it for a visit, a opportunity to spend some time in the shop going over warbird projects and thus we rolled out the Dave Platt Me109 Messerchmitt plans, though I prefer the Bf-109 designation.
The joy of building rc warbirds from plans is that you can let your mind squirrel into unknown places and research a project to what ever your heart desires (isn't the internet great for this) and satisfy your self which changes that suit you.
An item that caught (some days the english spelling for works like caught fry my brain) my eye was the main undercarriage (landing geat) strut length, it looked long.
Then again the real 109 landing gear is very unique, what is the length on the full size 109?

Platt Messerchmitt 109 strut lenght
In 1960, I began aeromodelling at the age of 6 and that led to a lifetime of aviation reading and research for aeromodelling subjects with a strong interest in warbirds and unique aviation personalities. I've been fortunate to be attend EAA Airventure Oshkosh many times, Gathering of Legends at Duxford UK, in 2015, the Gathering of Mustangs and Legends in 2007 as well as many other aviation events. A highlight was a demo ride with the late Bob Hoover in the Shrike Commander at the 1984 Maple Leaf International Airshow at Gimli, Manitoba. Now retired from full time work, I do aeromodelling and aviation research full time when not visiting my two grandsons, Lennox and Edison! I'm also on Facebook as Kpk Warbirds.
